Vin Diesel, a fan of the computer game Ark: Survival Evolved, recently stated on Instagram that a film adaptation of the dinosaur game may be in the works.
Vin Diesel is well-known for his passion for automobiles, but he also enjoys video games and dinosaurs. Although a crossover between Fast and Furious and Jurassic World is not yet in the works, the actor might very well explore the world of dinosaurs, despite fan expectations.
Because dinosaurs are still popular, the survival video game Ark: Survival Evolved, the first game made by the Wildcard studio, was launched in 2015. It has an open world where the player must help his character survive in a prehistoric planet filled with prehistoric monsters. While Vin Diesel will voice Santiago in the animated series ARK: The Animated Series, he will also have a character in ARK II, the sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved, that has his likeness.
Vin Diesel specifically hinted that the video game universe could be the topic of a film adaptation when he released a preview of the game on his Instagram account, where we can see him riding a gigantic dino.
“The best game out there is Ark Survival Evolved… It was introduced to me by my son many years ago. Then Wildcard and all of its geniuses approached me and asked me to lead their TV and film projects… I’m speechless at the thought of such an honor. Every true gamer is looking forward to Ark 2!!! But I’m ecstatic that you’ll be able to see how the series will translate to the big screen. Keep an eye out for updates. Always love.”
Even if nothing is official at the moment, and we don’t know when or how Ark might be adapted for the big screen, we won’t disguise our excitement (as you surely know, the sympathy capital of dinosaurs is rather high writing). Furthermore, an adaption of this nature would provide Vin Diesel with an opportunity to show that he can branch out from his Dominic Toretto character and do something other than drive cars.
While we await news on Riddick 4: Furia, we hope that the Ark: Survival Evolved project will be confirmed, allowing Vin Diesel to reclaim his reputation. Otherwise, we’ll see it in Fast X, the tenth film of the Fast & Furious franchise, which will be released in 2023.
