An Underappreciated Jason Statham Film Arrives on Netflix

Anyone who has a Netflix subscription has had a great month because the service has been adding tons of top-notch material since it launched. You won’t be dissatisfied with what the platform has made accessible in January so far, whether you’re looking for laughter with the adolescent comedy Superbad, seeking for mob drama with classics like The Departed and Goodfellas, or wanting to revive a little nostalgia with Robin Williams’ Hook.

However, if you enjoy crime thrillers or action actor Jason Statham, there will be a very intriguing new addition to the Netflix collection arriving tomorrow.

Homefront, a Sylvester Stallone-penned and Gary Fleder-directed film, centers on a former DEA agent (Statham) who has moved to a tiny Louisiana town with his daughter in search of a simpler life.

But when a crazy drug lord (James Franco) starts causing him problems, he is compelled to return to the violent world he thought he had left behind.

When Homefront was published in 2013, reviews were divided, earning it a middle-of-the-road 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The major criticism of the movie was that it wasn’t at all creative, but its cast, which also included well-known actors like Winona Ryder and Kate Bosworth, received a lot of appreciation for their work.

It’s also worth watching if you enjoy Jason Statham action movies. Actually, viewers gave it a far higher rating of 61 percent, making this one of the actor’s less-noticed and underappreciated performances.

Despite all of this, Homefront could still not be your cup of tea, but you can be sure that Netflix has added a ton of other fantastic stuff this month, so you won’t be short of movies and TV episodes to peruse.
