Will Smith’s slap or Jada Pinkett Smith’s TMI confessions may not be the Smith family’s biggest embarrassment.

For Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock, and many other people who attended the 94th Academy Awards, March 27, 2022, will live in infamy. Rock said, “Jada, I love you,” as he was getting ready to give the Best Documentary Feature. Jada was seated in the audience. Can’t wait to see G.I. Jane 2, okay?

What happened next might rank among the Smith family’s most embarrassing events in history. The utter failure of a movie, though, would be much more embarrassing than slapping a comic or Jada’s TMI comments on Red Table Talk.

One of the most stunning moments in Oscars history was when Will Smith punched Chris Rock.

Rock’s understated remark appeared to compare Jada’s shaved head to Demi Moore’s in G.I. Jane (1997). Moore portrayed Lieutenant Jordan O’Neil in the combat drama, a woman driven to prove herself worthy of a spot in the Navy SEALs. But there are striking distinctions between Jada’s motivation and that of the fictitious figure Lt. O’Neil.

Lt. O’Neil shaved her head to signify her membership in the traditionally male-dominated Navy Seals. Jada, on the other hand, has alopecia areata, a condition that results in substantial hair loss. She chose to shave her hair rather than walk about with significant bald patches, as reported by Insider in December 2021.

Based on the films he has been involved in over the years, Will Smith is ranked 61st on IMDb’s list of A+ actors. Movies like I Am Legend, Bad Boys, Independence Day, Men in Black, Hitch, and The Pursuit of Happyness have stood the test of time. But after taking the lead in so many big-budget movies, Will decided it was time to alter his strategy for making movies. His goals were intended to be fulfilled via the movie After Earth (2013).

Even if Wild Wild West is frequently disparaged by both audiences and critics, After Earth is still regarded by many as one of the most repulsive films. The film’s production cost was $130,000,000, and its final box office receipts were $251,499,665, according to The Numbers. Will wrote the story; Will and Jada were the producers. Gary Whitta, M. Night Shyamalan, and James Lassiter are additional writers and producers.https://youtu.be/j9KHgwWIk50

The movie’s description on Rotten Tomatoes, which reads, “After Earth is a dreary, ploddingly paced exercise in sentimental sci-fi — and the latest disappointment for director M. Night Shyamalan’s once-promising career,” may best explain the movie. After Earth now has a 36 percent audience approval rating and a 12 percent critic approval rating as of the date of writing. After Earth is an utter disaster, according to one critic, who also noted that Will Smith and M. Night Shyamalan were both at the height of their respective “lost in the woods” career periods.

Jaden Smith requested formal emancipation as a result of “After Earth’s” detractors.

The Pursuit of Happyness marked the father and son’s debut collaboration on screen (2006). Will claimed that even though he has always been Jaden’s father, this movie deepened their bond. Unfortunately, their relationship suffered just as much from the “abysmal” collapse of After Earth.

Smith admitted to Esquire in a 2015 interview that the failure of After Earth was agonizing. It was “the most heartbreaking failure in my career,” he said, because his son Jaden Smith was involved. The abuse directed against Smith’s son by the media and fans became so severe that he declined to republish the remarks in his autobiography, Will. Jaden, who was 15 at the time, was so upset by the comments that he inquired about emancipation.

Jaden, according to him, had obediently followed all instructions while After Earth was being shot. To put it another way, Jaden was a little child acting on his father’s advice and was not deserving of such brutality.
