Fast 10: Star Teases Higher Stakes For Vin Diesel’s Family

Star Nathalie Emmanuel outlines the team’s efforts to surpass travelling to space and teases heavier stakes for Vin Diesel’s family in Fast 10.

Star Nathalie Emmanuel hints at the Fast 10 family’s increased emotional stakes as filming draws to a close. In Furious 7, Emmanuel made her Fast and Furious debut as Ramsey, a British computer hacktivist who Dominic Toretto and the Diesel crew must defend against mercenary Mose Jakande. After defeating the antagonist played by Djimon Hounsou, Ramsey joined the Toretto family and served as Tej Parker’s tech partner in the succeeding Fast and Furious sequels.

Along with Diesel, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren, Emmanuel is back for Fast X. Daniela Melchior from The Suicide Squad, Brie Larson from Captain Marvel, Alan Ritchson from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rita Moreno, and Jason Momoa, who is slated to appear as a villain alongside Charlize Theron’s Cipher, will all make their franchise debuts in the follow-up. Since The Incredible Hulk’s Louis Leterrier took over from Justin Lin, filming on Fast X has picked up and is now close to conclusion. One star is now giving fans some insight into what they may anticipate from the upcoming movie.

In an interview with ComicBook.com to discuss the newest horror film The Invitation, Nathalie Emmanuel gave a little peek at what Fast 10 fans might expect in the future. The star voiced doubt that the follow-up could surpass going to space, but she did hint that the emotional stakes would be high for Vin Diesel’s family. Emmanuel shared the following:

Well, I believe that in this case the overall stakes are larger on a more personal level. Can travelling to space be topped? I don’t know why, but I feel like in this movie the risks to this family are simply so much bigger and so much more serious. I’ll stop there since I don’t want to cause any trouble.

With each new Fast and Furious film, the stakes for Diesel’s family have become more and more memorable. This trend culminated in last year’s F9: The Fast Saga, in which John Cena’s character, Dom’s long-lost brother Jakob, was revealed and the group traveled to space. Given the franchise’s propensity for getting bigger and better, many have been left wondering how Fast X can surpass what has come before and have shared their own suggestions for the direction the next two major films could take. One of the most popular fan suggestions has been a Jurassic World and Fast and Furious crossover. Many actors from both films have indicated interest in producing it, however Colin Trevorrow recently rejected the idea as violating the reputation of the first movie.

With Theron’s Cipher poised to make another appearance in Fast X as an antagonist and her connections to Jakob from the first movie, Emmanuel’s hint of heightened emotional stakes for Diesel’s family will likely ring true for many viewers. Additionally, John Cena’s recent sighting on the movie’s set has sparked rumors of a potential comeback and the growth of the new family unit between him, Dom, and Jordana Brewster’s Mia, so Emmanuel’s remarks may suggest an emotional conclusion to the series. On May 19, 2023, Fast X will be released in theaters, so only time will tell.
