The character of Paul Walker could make a return in Fast & Furious 10

The late Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner could yet make an appearance in Fast & Furious 10 or 11, according to F9 director Justin Lin.

Fast & Furious 10 or 11 filmmaker Justin Lin is thinking of bringing Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner character back.

In an interview with Cine POP, Lin, who is also attached to direct the next two installments of The Fast Saga, discusses his ambitions. He says, “Paul, who plays Brian, is undoubtedly the driving force behind our ability to continue, and I take that to heart. I consider bringing him back every single day.”

Beginning with The Fast and the Furious in 2001, Walker appears in six of the first seven Fast & Furious films. Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody joined the production team after his untimely death midway through the filming of 2015’s Furious 7, filling in for him to finish filming his sequences as Walker’s face was digitally added over theirs in post-production.

It’s a conversation I’m having as we go closer to the end, Lin continued. “And I consider this possibility daily. However, I am aware that the choice to maintain the character’s existence in the universe was made while I was away. I must respect that choice as a result. In whatever we, hopefully, wind up doing, I need to feel happy and confident.”

Lin’s remarks reaffirm what he said in April when talking about the potential for long-missing characters to make a cameo in the last two Fast & Furious films. Any character, in any circumstance, is up for discussion, he hinted, later adding, “Whenever we’re talking about the next chapter, I never feel like I have any constraints.”

Despite Walker’s passing, F9 establishes Brian O’Conner as still existing in the Fast & Furious universe by having him remain behind to look after his and Mia’s children as well as Brian, Dom’s kid. Additionally, Walker’s siblings are amenable to having his character return.

“I believe there may be a way to accomplish it, “In August 2018, Cody Walker made a statement. “But doing so would need much consideration and taste. It would need to be refined. He was a genuine auto enthusiast. And in his absence, I believe [The Fast Saga] seriously lost its direction.

Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron are among the cast members of the Justin Lin-directed film F9. Now playing in theaters, the movie.
